SET started life as Global Padel Hub, a directory of padel clubs and coaches. The brief was to redesign it into something with a point of view.

SET is now two things: SET Play, a city guide to the best padel clubs, and SET Away, a collection of curated padel trips with courts handpicked for character and quality of play.

The site needs to feel like the destinations it sells: editorial, calm and a little indulgent.

Alongside the redesign, the company's AI was trained on the new design language, so it applies the system strictly and consistently, without hallucinating components, colours or styles.

Before and after

From a directory to a guide

The brief was to redesign Global Padel Hub. The old site listed as many clubs and coaches as possible. The new one chooses, and leads with places.

The SET site after the redesign: the destinations menu open above the play your way around the world section
BeforeGlobal Padel Hub

A directory built around search, with member clubs, coach profiles, a community tab, news and FAQs, in a neutral green template.

  • Search-first home page with long lists of clubs and coaches
  • One green and one typeface, with little personality
  • Clubs, coaches and news treated as equal lists
AfterSET

A guide with a voice. Cities come first, then the clubs worth your time, with curated trips and a journal beside them.

  • Destinations lead: pick a city, then see where to play
  • SET Away trips and a journal sit beside the clubs
  • Wine, green and yellow on warm off-white, with editorial type

Inside the product

Inside the new SET site

01

Play your way around the world

Destinations lead. Pick a city and the site shows where to play, from Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur to Bali, Phuket, Singapore and Hong Kong, each with its club count and a line of character.

  • Photography-led city cards with club counts
  • A menu that groups cities by country, with new ones marked coming soon
  • A page of its own for every city

02

A verdict for every city

Each city page opens with a verdict written by the SET team, then moves through the journal, clubs, trips and what to do off the court.

  • A verdict that says what the scene is really like
  • Tabs for overview, journal, clubs, trips and off-court
  • Where to play, design your trip and adventures beyond padel

SET Away: curated trips

Signature experiences are handpicked: padel retreats in Portugal, Indonesia and Spain among them. Each card shows the destination, how many nights and a short line on what it is, and there is a way to tailor a trip of your own.

  • Trip cards with destination, length and a short description
  • Courts handpicked for character and quality of play
  • A way to ask for a bespoke itinerary

Clubs worth your time

Clubs are approved by the SET team, not just listed. Each card shows the club, its city and a few honest lines on what it is like to play there.

  • A SET approved badge on every club
  • Short editorial descriptions instead of long listings
  • A carousel that works with a thumb

The work

What the work covered

UX

Rethought the site from a directory into a guide: cities first, then clubs, trips and the journal, so a visitor moves from where can I play to where should I go.

UI

Designed the editorial look for desktop and phone: condensed headlines, a serif for reading, photography-led cards and a wine, green and yellow palette.

Design System

Built the components that run across the site, from city, trip and club cards to tags, tabs and carousels, so a new city or club slots in without new design.

AI

Trained the company's AI on the design language, so it applies the system strictly and consistently, with no invented components, colours or styles.
